Refund Policy

Fourteen days, one email, a full refund on your first paid plan. After that, cancel any time to stop billing — no trap, no pro-rating math.

Effective: 2026-07-15. Last updated: 2026-07-15.

1. Scope

CleverlyBox sells two things, and they have different refund terms:

  • Subscriptions — the current product. Free, and paid monthly or annual plans, as published on the pricing page. Covered by Sections 2 to 4.
  • Legacy lifetime licences — one-time purchases made under CleverlyBox's earlier pricing model. Still valid, still honoured. Covered by Section 5, which restates the terms that applied when those licences were bought.

If you are not sure which you have: if CleverlyBox charges your card on a recurring basis, you have a subscription. If you paid once and are never billed again, you hold a lifetime licence.

2. Subscriptions — the core promise

14-day money-back guarantee on your first paid subscription. If, within 14 days of your first paid charge for a CleverlyBox subscription, you decide CleverlyBox is not the right fit, email us and we will refund that charge in full and close the subscription. One email. No survey, no save-offer loop, no retention call.

After that: cancel any time, and you will not be billed again. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for, and you keep full access until then. We do not pro-rate or refund partial periods.

This is a deliberately simple rule, and it has two halves. Before you commit, you get a real trial of the paid product: the free plan lets you evaluate CleverlyBox at no cost and with no card on file, and the 14-day guarantee means upgrading to a paid plan is not a one-way door either. After you commit, the money for a period you have already used is not returned — but you are never trapped. You can turn off future billing yourself, at any time, from the dashboard, and you keep the access you paid for until it runs out.

2.1 Eligibility for the 14-day guarantee

The guarantee applies to the first paid charge on your account, whether that is a monthly or an annual plan. It applies regardless of:

  • How much you used the platform during those 14 days.
  • How many campaigns you sent.
  • Whether you are a solo operator, a company, or an agency.

It does not apply to renewal charges, to upgrade or pro-rated upgrade amounts on an account that has already had a paid charge, or to a second subscription on an account that has previously been refunded under this guarantee.

3. What is and isn't refundable

Refundable

  • Your first paid subscription charge, if requested within 14 days of that charge (Section 2).

Not refundable

  • Periods already billed, once the 14-day window has passed. We do not refund or pro-rate a partial month or a partial year. Cancel, and you keep access for the rest of the period you paid for.
  • Renewals. We are not obliged to refund a renewal — but see the FAQ for how we handle a renewal you genuinely did not want and did not use.
  • Third-party sending costs. From the Business plan up, you may connect your own sending account (Amazon SES, SendGrid, Mailgun, SparkPost, Elastic Email, SMTP). Those providers bill you directly, and we cannot refund money you paid to them.
  • Consumed add-ons. If you bought a paid add-on (for example one-time list-verification credits, a setup-assistance package, a custom-domain consultation) and it has been delivered or consumed, that portion is not refundable. This does not affect any subscription refund you may be entitled to.
  • Accounts terminated for violation of acceptable use. Accounts terminated for breach of the Terms of Service — spam, fraudulent campaigns, malware, purchased lists — are not eligible for a refund. We document the violation and the basis for termination in every such case.
  • Refund abuse. Where there are credible signs a refund is being requested in bad faith — for example an agency account that provisioned client sub-accounts, ran client campaigns, then requested a refund inside the window — we reserve the right to decline. These cases are rare and we document them.
  • Taxes, where we are legally unable to recover them.

4. Annual plans

Annual plans are billed once, in advance, for twelve months of service at the price published on the pricing page (currently equivalent to ten months of the monthly price — the discount is the reason to commit for a year).

  • The 14-day guarantee applies to a first annual charge in the same way it applies to a first monthly charge: full refund, within 14 days, on request.
  • After 14 days, an annual term is not refundable or pro-ratable. You have received a discount in exchange for committing to twelve months. You may cancel at any time to stop the next annual renewal, and you keep full access until the current term ends.

5. Legacy lifetime licences

This section preserves the refund terms that applied to lifetime licence purchases. It is unchanged in substance from the policy in force when those licences were sold. Lifetime licence holders lose nothing by CleverlyBox's move to subscriptions.

5.1 The lifetime promise

30-day money-back guarantee on every CleverlyBox lifetime licence. If within 30 days of your purchase you decided CleverlyBox was not the right fit, you could email us for a full refund of the purchase amount. No survey. No save-offer loop. No pro-rating math.

5.2 Who was eligible

Any first-time purchase of a CleverlyBox lifetime licence tier (Starter, Pro, or Agency), within 30 days of the purchase date, regardless of how much the platform was used or how many campaigns were sent. Where the licence was bought through an authorised launch partner rather than direct from CleverlyBox, the refund is handled by the original seller — please contact them.

5.3 What was refundable

The full amount of the initial licence purchase — Starter ($49), Pro ($79), or Agency ($149). Tier-upgrade deltas were refundable within 30 days of the upgrade purchase.

5.4 What was not refundable

  • Purchases older than 30 days. Beyond that window, lifetime licence fees are non-refundable.
  • Third-party sending costs paid to your own provider.
  • Add-on services already delivered.
  • Accounts terminated for violation of acceptable use, and refund-abuse cases.

5.5 Your licence is not affected by the move to subscriptions

Moving to a subscription model does not revoke, expire, or convert your lifetime licence, and does not start charging you a recurring fee. See Section 5 of the Terms of Service. If you choose to buy a current subscription plan in addition to your lifetime licence, that subscription is governed by Sections 2 to 4 of this policy.

6. How to request a refund

One email.

Send a message to [email protected] with:

  • Subject line: "Refund request".
  • The email address on your CleverlyBox account.
  • Optionally, a one-line note on what did not work — useful to us, not required, and not a condition of the refund.

We confirm eligibility (that the charge is within the window) and process the refund. No support call. No "before you go" modal. No survey.

To simply stop future billing, you do not need to email anyone: cancel from Account Settings → Billing. Cancellation is self-service, takes effect at the end of your paid period, and does not require our approval.

7. Processing time

Once a refund request is received:

  • Confirmation: within 1 business day.
  • Refund initiated: within 1–2 business days of confirmation.
  • Funds back on your payment method: typically 5–7 business days, depending on your bank or card issuer. Some methods take up to 10 business days.

Refunds go back to the original payment method. If that method is closed or expired, email support and we will work with our payment processor to find an alternative. For fraud-prevention reasons, we cannot refund to a card or account that does not belong to the original purchaser.

8. What happens to your data

When a refund is processed, or when a cancelled subscription reaches the end of its paid period, your account moves to the free plan or becomes inactive.

  • You can export your contacts to CSV at any time, from within the dashboard, while your account is active — including after cancelling and before the period ends. You do not need to ask us.
  • After a refund or closure, you retain the ability to log in and export Your Content (contacts, campaign content, automation definitions) for 30 days. After that window, the account and Your Content may be deleted in accordance with the Privacy Policy.
  • Need more time? Email support and we will extend the window.

9. Chargebacks

If you believe you are entitled to a refund, please ask us first — it is faster than a chargeback and we would rather resolve it directly. Initiating a chargeback for a charge we would have refunded on request costs both of us time and money.

We reserve the right to suspend an account with an unresolved chargeback until the dispute is settled. This is not a threat, and it is not a reason not to dispute a charge you believe is wrong; it is a statement of what happens operationally while a payment is in dispute.

10. FAQ

I cancelled — do I get money back for the rest of the month?

No. Cancellation stops future billing and you keep full access until the end of the period you already paid for. We do not pro-rate. This is deliberate: cancelling is never a "use it or lose it" scramble, and there is no math to argue about.

I forgot to cancel and I got renewed. What now?

Email [email protected]. We are not contractually obliged to refund a renewal. In practice, if the renewal was recent and the account has not been used since it renewed, we will generally reverse it and close the subscription — tell us and we will look at it.

Can I get a partial refund if I used it for two months and want the third back?

No. Inside the 14-day window on a first subscription: full refund. Outside it: cancel to stop future billing, and keep access until the period ends. Clean rules, no usage audits, no argument about whether you used the product "too much" to deserve a refund.

Does the guarantee apply if I upgrade from Starter to Business?

The 14-day guarantee applies to your first paid charge on the account. An upgrade after that is not a fresh guarantee window. You can downgrade again at the next billing period.

I have a lifetime licence. Are you going to start charging me?

No. See Section 5 above, and Section 5 of the Terms of Service. Your licence stands.

What about the money I pay Amazon SES / SendGrid / Mailgun?

That is billed to you by them, not us, and we cannot refund it. Sending is included on every CleverlyBox plan; connecting your own provider from the Business plan upward is optional, and if you do, that provider's fees and terms are between you and them.
